A shark gives a diver a high-five. Eli Martinez was interacting with the lemon shark in the balmy waters off the coast of The Bahamas. Eli, who works as the editor of Shark Diving magazine, said: “This particular shark I had encountered before. She is very laid-back so I knew if I held my hand out she would come over. At first she was swimming straight towards me, but I didn’t expect her to turn at the last moment. She tapped my palm with her fin like we were high-five-ing.”

And I still miss him all the time. I keep finding books he wrote, or emails he sent, or cartoons he worked on.
The best writer, the best friend, the best guy.
You are missed so much, Dwayne, and sadly, but as we all expected…
…you are not replaceable.
Dwayne McDuffie was the one who got me into DC Comics. I remember catching JLU on television, and that was the gateway into all the diverse characters of the DCU. I remember being particularly fond of Question and Hawkgirl…
I later learned that he had been the original creator of Static Shock (I loved the show), so turns out he was responsible for most of my childhood.
As I start reading and collecting comics (I found the first four issues of Hardware), I’m realizing how good a creator Mr. McDuffie was. I wish I could have thanked him or let him know how much he’s influenced and inspired me. Rest in peace Dwayne McDuffie.

With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

I’ve supported lots of Kickstarter type projects, but this one might be the most important one yet. It’s not through Kickstarter, but through a UK site that is similar (and you can place bids from the US, as well) called indiegogo.com. It works the same way Kickstarter does, but let’s not worry…

…join a racist faction, destroy a city, kill innocents by the dozens, kill a dragon who has been innocent and helpful, steal from poor families, kill innocent wildlife, promote religious hatred, be a vicious and violent loan shark, and burn down a bunch of beehives.
Dear game, why am I playing you?

Specifically, for a place to to stay. We’re staying a few extra days, and we don’t know London at all.
We’re looking for someplace clean and safe and reasonable, it needn’t be super-fancy as we don’t intend to stay in the room much. We will need a hotel for October 31-November 3.
Any advice for locals or travelers familiar with the area?
Depends on where you’re planning to go, but when I was in London over the summer we stayed at the Guoman Tower Hotel near Westminster. It’s pretty much right next to the Thames, so you have a great view of that and there are tours/ferries close by if you have the time. The biggest downside would probably be the cost (and lack of Wi-fi).
